Sadly, I knew not only the movie but the moment.

Ever watch a movie so many times that you can quote it word for word?

[More:]

The husband was channel surfing (as usual, which is why I don't watch television with him unless I really, really want to watch something) and suddenly I heard a familiar song. Worse, I not only knew by the song what movie it was, but I knew what moment it was, and my mouth formed the next words out of the next character's mouth.

My son tends to watch movies again and again but I didn't think I did. At least, not to the same extent. Of course, my younger son tends to use movies as "background noise" when he's playing a computer game - he'll let the movie run and then start it again when he notices it's not talking to him any more. I tend to use movies as "background" in a way. I'll put one of my favorites on when I'm folding clothes or cross stitching; you know, the repeatitive type things that you don't really need to watch very closely (well, until you look down and find that your stitches have not exactly gone quite the direction they were supposed to and you have to remove the last 50 stitches to straighten it out *sigh*). However, there are days when I find that I have watched a particular movie way too often.

Such is the case, apparently, with Dirty Dancing, Lord of the Rings (all 3 movies), King Arthur, Van Helsing (which I really don't know why I watch because I really don't like it that much), The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and about a half dozen other movies. Okay, and seasons 5 and 6 of Xena Warrior Princess.

Hmmm... why aren't any of the Harry Potter movies on there? Well, I do like The Sorcerer's Stone, and Chamber of Secrets. And Prisoner of Azkaban was okay (except for that whole werewolf distraction garbage, and Hermione saving Harry's life, and Hermione being the heroine that knows what to do and drags a clueless Harry along, and... okay, so I have a few issues with the movie of Prisoner of Azkaban *shrug*). Goblet of Fire was alright though I really wish they'd done the dragon competition a little (okay, a lot) closer to the book. Well, looking at that, I guess it's no real surprise the Harry Potter movies aren't on that list.

Okay, why did I feel the need to say that? Not a clue. Except maybe that I'm vaguely wondering if I'm going to like Eragon. My younger grandson, who drug me kicking and screaming into the book series, already has a few issues with the trailers. I must admit I do too, but they're different than what his are. So both of us are kind of holding our breaths wondering if we really even want to see it. Except that we're such major fans of the books that we love to discuss it all the time so there's really no question that we will see it.

Let's just hope it doesn't drop me and my preconceived ideas on my head.

Ooops! Dixie was here!

Definately not Tolkien related.
